Acer Palmatum Bonsai – from All Things Bonsai
Today, for me at least, it’s like Christmas. Another delivery from the amazing folk at All Things Bonsai, and I’m giddy with anticipation. Today’s delivery is a Japanese Maple Bonsai (Acer Plamatum to those who speak such language).
This beautiful little tree has clearly been cared for during it’s “bonsification”, with a lovely soft ‘s’, informal trunk, and the beginnings of smaller leaves and branch ramification. This is definitely a great starter tree, with lots of opportunity for further styling over the coming years. Honestly, I could not be happier with the stage this bonsai has been delivered in, and all for such a reasonable price.
Now I’ve promised Adam I’ll keep his secret, so I won’t go into too many details, but the way in which the tree is packaged ensures absolute security during transit, fully minimised risk of the rootball drying out and all this with the minimum possible level of packaging. The tree arrived in perfect health, not a broken twig or dropped leaf in sight. The pot didn’t have so much as a smear of dirt on it and was also in perfect condition.
I have to say I rate All Things Bonsai very highly, and are my go-to business for nearly all my bonsai requirement.
As for my new little tree, I have big “little” plans for it. Over the coming weeks, I’ll need to cut back new growth, thin out the leaves and get a good start on the ramification of the branches. Next year, according to the excellent advice provided with the tree, it will be time to re-pot and give the roots some room to grow.
A lot of really good work has been already been done, but now it’s time to make this little tree my own.
